MILLY ARCANA is an ongoing project that takes place on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people.
It is the online home for a unique collection of lovely things.
The items displayed at this website fall into two categories:
- new hand-made pieces
- one-off secondhand treasures
Unless otherwise indicated, the new pieces are made by Leah Muddle (that's me). I also source the secondhand collection.
PURCHASING/PAYMENTS
When proceeding through check-out, you should be able to pay using credit card, Paypal or Afterpay. If you prefer another method, such as direct transfer, I'm happy with that - please just contact me: milly.s.temp@gmail.com or @milly_still on Instagram.
POSTAGE/PICK-UP
Parcels will be sent as soon as possible following sales paid in full (usually next day). You can choose:
- regular post with tracking for $12
- express post with tracking for $16
- "bulky" post with tracking for $20
Bulky is applicable to purchases of several items or a large single item like a coat.
If your order is a small CARDS ONLY purchase, I may contact you to refund some of the postage money.
These options are for customers within Australia. If you're an international customer, please get in touch prior to purchase - milly.s.temp@gmail.com.
CLICK AND COLLECT
If you are local, you may prefer to collect. There is a 'pick-up' option within the check-out process, which indicates that you can collect your order from Brunswick or Fitzroy (on some days). Once I have received your order, I will contact you with more specific details. If the shopping cart appears to automatically add postage to your total, keep moving through the steps to 'shipping' where you should find 'pick-up' and have the postage cost deducted.
RETURNS
I generally do offer returns on items bought through this website. If you aren't happy with what you chose, I can process a refund less all postage costs. Of course, I prefer to avoid this, so if you're at all unsure about something, I really encourage you to be in touch prior to purchase and ask questions.
MADE-TO-ORDER
You will see that many of the new pieces are offered on a made-to-order basis in limited quantities. I prefer to work this way to limit the amount of 'excess stock' created and excess materials bought. It's also a more personal way of doing things. A time-frame (from order placement to delivery) is generally given in the item listing but I will also get in touch with you to discuss details.
CAN I COMMISSION SOMETHING DIFFERENT?
Yes, potentially. In relation to made-to-order pieces, I do get asked for variations to colour, material, size, detail and try to accommodate requests. I also get asked to make things new and different, and I also try to meet the challenge. I love hearing from people with their ideas. But - it takes time to communicate back & forth, draw up a new pattern, find suitable materials . . . these are parts of the process that can be underestimated.
DO YOU STILL SELL CLOTHING?
Sort of. If you follow @patience_shudio on Insta, there will be bits and pieces on offer.
... When 'Milly' was established, it was an actual Carlton shop that proffered locally-made independent designer clothing. Eventually we started selling a 'select secondhand' range, and I continued to do this well after the closure of the original Milly. I hosted some wonderful pop-ups using the project name Scrapbook. In recent years, I have found it much harder to find what I like for a reasonable price, and have ceased trying to put together regular collections. BUT - I really love clothing and cannot help but buy what I like when I see it. And I can't imagine not having a clothing rack in my studio. (Stay tuned).
CAN I VISIT YOUR STUDIO?
I am currently working on a new model for a studio called Patience, which will be open by appointment. Again, stay tuned.
