Animal bolster II (1 only)

$125.00

***Please read the description carefully as notes pertain to the fabric’s condition and care***

1 of 2 unique bolsters made from a gorgeous length of vintage fabric, estimated 1980s and US origin. The ends and join have been finished with patchwork segments using remnant cottons. The piece has been lightly quilted all over and is quite delightful. While both of the bolsters feature all of the same animals and motifs, the placement differs.

Approx 57cm long X 18/19cm (diameter)

There is a zipper and a custom-sized insert. At this stage, the bolsters are moderately stuffed with poly fill. They are more soft and light than really firm but the insert has a gap to allow for further stuffing if preferred. If/when the insert is removed and put back in, it will be easier to do so with the insert half-full, which simply necessitates transferring some stuffing temporarily to a spare bag. The insert can be fully stuffed once it is back inside the cover.

The bolster’s main fabric is likely cotton polyester and quite rigid/robust. While the overall appearance is certainly bright and clean, there may be a small mark here and there reflecting the section’s age. When I laundered the fabric for the first time, the colour bled, particularly the red areas. I was extremely relieved when I rinsed it again, lightly soaping the colour stained areas, and most of it came off. There is still some faint red tinging in a couple of places, which I have tried to photograph. This reflects in the bolster’s price, which is as low as I can make this time-consuming piece. Ongoing, I recommend spot washing. When essential, a quick, strictly COLD hand wash with the mildest of detergents is necessary, avoiding scrunching or wringing the fabric. Roll the cover in a towel and then hang to dry.
