~ Always happy to see a Dana Buchman label. When we had a ‘back room’ in Carlton filled with secondhand treasures, I used to let one person bring in garments on consignment - a sweet person who had been collecting clothes for a long time, who had very wide-ranging taste. Some of my favourite lesser-known labels were introduced to me by this person: Shirin Guild and Ghost England come to mind ... She had a couple of vintage sets by Dana Buchman that I pictured being worn by someone of both impeccable and fun style. This particular blouse is a bit newer than those sets (prob from the late 90s or early 2000s) and appears virtually unworn and long stored. I had several goes at describing its colour (to myself): pale champagne, ‘dirty’ cream ... weak tea seemed close but I didn’t want you to think it was at all tannin-y. I suppose it is beige. But it’s really hard to see any luminous silk as being beige. In the morning late, it looks almost sage! Whatever, it’s a very soft pale but slightly murky colour that nicely offsets the daintiness of the embroidery.
